The seeds of Rueda Racing Kings were sown 40-some years ago when a young Ed Rueda got his first car, an Austin Healy that was a gift from his uncle. Of course, Ed didn’t expect that the car would be dropped off in pieces by a tow truck. The 14-year-old had it running within a month and then spent the next year making it run faster.
That scene has played out over and over in Ed’s life — get a skeleton of a machine, tune it up and make it perform beyond its potential.
“My passion is to get all of our cars to go faster by innovative engineering and aerodynamics,” Ed says. “We’re designing and installing these things to win.”
The first car that Rueda Racing Kings put on the track was a late model Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Quintin Crye. “We didn’t have the best car out there, but we made a statement by being on the track. It made us all feel good and that’s what counts.”
But that’s not the end of the story, since RRK continues to build it’s team and drivers, work hard on developing its technology and creating new sponsorship opportunities.
Of course, it hasn’t been an easy run, but Ed was inspired by the words of his grandmother. “Right before she died she told me, ‘If you want something really bad then you fight for it.’ So, I believe determination is everything. We’ve raced and will continue to race.”
